Up to 30 young people a day have been spending their days getting creative with Kids Kabin in Middlesbrough this summer, thanks to some vital support from Beech Grove Primary School in Grove Hill.
We're currently on the lookout for larger premises to call our own in the area, but in the meantime, the school was kind enough to let us use its community room for our team members, as well as the main sports hall for activities for the first half of the school summer break.
This meant we could host up to four times as many kids as we usually can at a session, and crafts have been popular this year!
As well as making Olympic-inspired wrestling belts from cardboard and using socks to make some stuffed characters, we got active at the beach on our annual trip to Seahouses, and have visited the local park and Alnwick Gardens.
We'd also like to thank Thirteen Housing Group for its ongoing support for our work, and Middlesbrough Council, which gave us funding as part of the local Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme. This meant we've been able to give all kids that we've worked with this summer a huge choice of food for breakfast, as well as a hot lunch, with enough leftovers to take home for little brothers and sisters - four days a week!
Kids Kabin simply couldn't do its work with young people without this type of help from the community and amazing partners like these.
Street workshops in and around Laurel Avenue are ongoing for the rest of the summer, so pop and say hello if you're in the area!
