Walker
Kids Kabin was set up in 1994 when three Sisters of the Assumption moved to Walker. They started running arts and crafts activities from a small disused shop in a local shopping centre. In 2002, Kids Kabin moved into a purpose built centre next to the shopping centre. This centre has the following specialist workshops and activity areas:
-
Woodwork
-
Cookery
-
Pottery
-
Glasswork
-
Art
-
Drama and dance
-
Bike repairs
-
Sewing and fabric design
-
Gardening
Each year hundreds of children from the local community come along, take part in these activity workshops and turn ideas into reality. Local primary schools also visit the centre for creative curriculum sessions.
It is at this main centre that the trailers and mobile workshops are made. These mobile workshops then travel out into the Kids Kabin satellites.
