Apprentice Youth Worker, Newcastle

​

As a Kids Kabin Youth Work Apprentice, you'll be part of a team enabling young people to learn and develop through positive activities, in a safe but challenging environment. 

 

You'll complete a youth work qualification at Level 2 or above, and learn important professional skills to prepare you for the future, such as time management, administration, and planning and evaluation. Among other vital topics you'll learn about safeguarding, mental and physical health, and health and safety. You'll also work on placement with a range of other organisations.

You'll receive support through workplace supervision and mentoring, and will be encouraged to take part in an evaluation of the role, as well as linked projects. By sharing your voice you'll contribute to improvements for youth work in Walker.

 

About Kids Kabin:

  • Kids Kabin empowers young people, aged seven to 13, through creative and practical workshops that take place mostly after school.

  • We work closely with local partner charities, community organisations and schools.

  • More than 1,000 young people take part in Kids Kabin workshops in Newcastle each year.

About the position:

  • You'll be part of our team in Newcastle, based at our purpose-built centre at Church Walk in Walker for 12 months.

  • 25 hours per week over four or five days.

  • Rate of pay – £7.49ph for those aged 18 to 20, £10.18ph for those aged 21 to 22, and £10.43ph for those aged 23+

  • Travel expenses for training and travelling to satellite locations will be reimbursed.

  • Five weeks annual leave plus a proportion of public holidays (pro rata).

  • A three per cent employer pension contribution.
