Kids Kabin takes mobile trailer workshops into disadvantaged neighbourhoods in Newcastle upon Tyne and Middlesbrough and runs street pottery, cookery, woodwork and bike repair workshops for children.
Children aged 8 to 13 take part in practical, hands on activities on their terms and in their streets. They learn new skills and then share them, boosting their self-confidence and enabling them to play active and positive roles in their community.
Over the winter months, these street workshops move into local community centres or church halls
"I'm able to make stuff. It's helped me with woodwork at school. I'm going back to do construction at school for A-level. I'm also doing food tech and sport – Kids Kabin has given me confidence in these subjects. I've also met new people and made new friends. Kids Kabin made me get out of the house." Young volunteer, Cowgate, May 2021
