Kids Kabin kids have created two videos, based on their ideas on the theme of ‘freedom of movement’. Young people worked alongside filmmakers Christo and Svetlana, of The Good Cave Project, during the summer of 2025.

The first film saw young people transform into wild animals and insects in the local Walker Park, creating a series of improvised and unscripted clips – which come together to tell a story of children’s perception of natural freedom.

The second film follows a more urban theme, with young people showing their creativity through movement and dance.

The films were then premiered in September from a mobile cinema in the car park of the Balloon pub in Cowgate. The local audience were so impressed that they had a spontaneous collection and gave all 11 film makers a gift of £5 each. It goes without saying that the kids are ready and waiting to make another film as soon as they can!

Skyla, age 11, explains, “I enjoyed making the masks, meeting new people and seeing our film shown in a real cinema in front of lots of people!”

Jake Hall, Project Worker at Kids Kabin, supported the project and he said, “A great project for the kids to take part in - they were really able to express their ideas and imagination. The kids became more and more engaged as the sessions went on, and developed a real rapport with the film makers.”
