When EY went 'out of office' at Kids Kabin

You may not realise that many private sector organisations choose to spend 'away days' at Kids Kabin - working together apart from their usual desks and deadlines to support our work.

That's what happened earlier this week when a team of six volunteers from accountancy firm Ernst and Young (EY) chose to give our trailer shed a touch-up as part of a team-building trip!

Our trailer shed is a special place - home to our fleet of mobile cookery, woodwork and pottery trailers, as well as our trusty smoothie bike. It's so well-used and has appreciated a bit of TLC from the EY team, who put in some brilliant work on the task before helping run our school workshop with a class from Central Walker Primary School.

Our Chief Officer Will said: "It was great having the extra pairs of hands, especially in the kitchen, giving every child the opportunity to take full control of the recipe from start to finish."

The group also had the chance to get creative themselves, each making a pot on the pottery wheel to take away with them as a reminder of the day, as well as crafting a homemade pizza for their lunch!

Katie Knight, the EY team member who organised the volunteering day said: “We had a great day away from our desks helping with lots of different fun filled activities.

"The kids were really enthusiastic and eager to get involved with everything. Thank you to Kids Kabin for all your valuable work. We hope to be back soon!”
