When the Mayor dropped in to lend a hand

North of Tyne Mayor Jamie Driscoll and his team joined Kids Kabin’s mobile bike workshops this week – helping kids fix their bikes in the streets of Byker.

He was very happy to roll his sleeves up and get his hands dirty. Bikes got fixed, kids got to learn about tools and mechanics and it was great fun – our thanks to Jamie for taking the time to see our street workshops in action and for sharing his mechanical skills!

Jamie also took to social media to speak about his experience. He said: "Great to hang out in Byker with Kids Kabin and local lass, Lilly, who taught me a thing or two about bike mechanics!

"Kids Kabin is doing fantastic work in our communities helping our young people learn new skills and boost their confidence. Hats off to Will and his team!"
