When Kids Kabin got a wheelie good surprise!

We were chuffed to bits earlier this month to learn that Kids Kabin had been selected to receive 14 brand new bikes, all put together by staff from Northumbrian Water.

The team, which works in Information Services (IS) at the utility firm, had taken part in a corporate team building day at Durham Cricket Club, being run by team building experts from a company called o3e.

A group of people stand at the entrance to charity Kids Kabin with some of the bicycles built on the day.
Will and Laura from Kids Kabin take delivery of the new bikes from representatives from Northumbrian Water and O3E.

Bought by the Northumbria team, the bikes had arrived at the venue in parts, and it was up to the 120-strong group to work together in small teams to turn them into bikes that looked great, and could be safely ridden.

In a Facebook post in which Kids Kabin was tagged, Northumbrian Water said: "We worked with an organisation called o3e who geared up our budding bike enthusiasts and taught them how to fit the various components together, which were all quality assured by the O3e team at the end.

"It was great to be able to combine team building with giving something back to the community. Well done IS team!"

The bikes, which will be used for group bike rides and camps, range in size so they are suitable for our members, young people aged seven to 13. And there are some adult bikes for our volunteers.

We’re really looking forward to running our first set of bike rides now that we're in half term!

A huge thank you to the Northumbrian Water team and to o3e for their amazing work. They join a long list of supporters, without whom we wouldn't be able to continue our work to change more young people's lives.
