Kids Kabin - Home

Kids Kabin is an arts centre in Church Walk Shopping Centre in Walker , Newcastle upon Tyne. Kids Kabin has a wide range of creative arts, performing arts and crafts facilities for the use of local young people and schools and community groups.

To achieve this our mission, we run the following programme

Daily after school activities in our purpose built ‘workshops’, which include pottery, woodwork, art, cookery, fabric work, glasswork, music, IT and bicycle repairs
A holiday programme which includes environmental projects, camping trips and outings and allow young people to take their art into the environment
Regular project with schools to raise awareness about Kids Kabin and provide decorations for school programmes and enhance the curriculum

It is a core aim of Kids Kabin to make activities accessible to all young people and especially to young people most at risk of social exclusion. This group includes those who do not have the opportunity to take part in constructive and creative activities elsewhere.

To achieve this we aim to provide a welcoming and hugely creative environment in which we

Encourage an atmosphere of mutual respect for each other
Focus attention on positive behaviour and de-personalise anti-social behaviour
Provide support so that young people can feel confident to try again
Celebrate achievement
Run collaborative projects to help young people learn to work together
Encourage decision making within the creative activities
