Special final fundraiser for Big East End Bike Fix Fund postponed

Updated: Jan 9, 2023

Apologies to all that were hoping to join us for this event but due to a change in ownership, the venue is no longer available and we've had to postpone. We'll keep you posted as we do plan to hold the exhibition at an alternative venue and on an alternative date.

If in the meantime you'd still like to support the fundraising element of the event, you can do so at https://www.spacehive.com/street-bike-repairs

We're excited to invite all Kids Kabin supporters to enjoy a final fundraiser for our Big East End Bike Fix Fund, courtesy of our friends, Dr. Harry Hall and Recyke y'bike.

Harry's photographs showcasing Recyke y'bike's work will be shown from January 13th to February 28th, 2023 at a special exhibition at the event space at Walker's Tyne Bank Brewery, and opening night will be a special occasion, featuring acoustic music, food, and a pledge party for our crowdfunding campaign to run 80 bike repair workshops in Newcastle's East End next year.

Harry, who came to know about Recyke y'bike after a gift from his daughter meant he wanted to recycle his old bike, has had his photographic work, which has featured food banks, the Salvation Army, volunteer groups, public spaces, protest groups and ancient trade routes, published widely, including by The Guardian newspaper and the BBC. This year, he published ‘An Absence of Normal’, a book that explored Newcastle during lockdown.

Once Harry met the team at Recyke y'bike, he started recording the Saturday morning session for young people and the pop-up bike repairs around the neighbourhood with schools and youth groups, a comitment that culminated in this exhibition.

Read the full event schedule below, and to make a donation to the fund before then, visit spacehive.com/street-bike-repairs. We look forward to seeing you there!
