This summer, our partnership work with Thirteen Group in Middlesbrough, led to us starting up some new activities in Pallister Park, where parents and kids had told us at the local community day that there wasn't much to do for under 13s in the area.
Say no more!
After signing up 20 kids on the spot, and asking them and their parents about the sorts of activities they wanted, we promptly started regular outdoor sessions, supported by StreetGames, that have since moved to a temporary indoor location for the winter.
We enjoyed some woodwork, arts and crafts, including bag-making with most kids still using their 'Kids Kabin branded' bags today; some pottery and a bit of cookery, and the kids even spearheaded an environmental project to minimise the impact of litter on local wildlife!
Now, if that's not good news enough, we've just found out we can continue this work for the next year, with up to 40 kids a week able to take part in all these great activities. But that's not all!
This support, which has come from Thirteen Group's Community Fund and can be match-funded thanks to the Four Acre Trust, means we'll soon be starting a family cookery session for up to 10 families a week as well.
We can't wait to get started. So, a big thank you to StreetGames, to Thirteen Group, to the local police and the local council, both of which helped us get started, and most of all to the kids and families in Pallister Park!
