Jake Hall joined the Kids Kabin team earlier this year as our latest Youthwork Appentice in Newcastle. We gave him a chance to settle in and then thought we'd help you get to know him a bit better, with a bit of a Q&A.
Welcome Jake! What do you feel has been your biggest achievement over your first 100 days at Kids Kabin?
I've enjoyed working with the kids and getting them to try new activities and to enjoy themselves. I’ve also really enjoyed getting involved in some new activities myself. There’s always something for me to do all the time, which is good – I like being busy!
What’s been your highlight so far?
The start of each session for the first week – meeting all the kids for the first time and getting to know them has been brilliant.
Have you found anthing difficult?
Organising my time, I think, both within sessions and personally. In sessions, I feel I've underestimated the amount of time I’ve got. I’ve also got to make sure I’m disciplined to get to where I need to be at a certain time!
What are your ambitions for the rest of your time at Kids Kabin?
I want to get as much as I can going on for the kids – getting them active and involved in as wide a range of new activities as possible, that they wouldn’t otherwise do. I want to learn lots of new things and broaden my skills in all sorts of areas. It's great to be here.
